We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading construction company, for a dynamic and professional Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Birmingham. This opportunity arises due to the client's ongoing growth in the construction industry.

The Role: As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in providing commercial support to senior surveying staff. This involves working on a variety of projects, including those ranging from £500k to £10 million, with potential involvement in small new build sites. Your responsibilities will include accurately valuing subcontract works, issuing payment notices, and ensuring the overall financial success of the projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to the client's values and procedures.
  • Proactively contribute to the team.
  • Manage application schedule of rates for contractual arrangements.
  • Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing and resolution of client queries.
  • Identify and report potential disputes to the line manager.
  • Place supply chain orders and ensure compliance with procurement schedules.
  • Accurately value, certify, and issue payment notices for subcontract works.

Essential Criteria:

  • Good education, including 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, A levels.
  • Excellent numeracy and organisation skills.
  • Proficient in data interrogation and IT, including high-level Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot tables, and formula development).

Desired Criteria:

  • QS degree or working towards obtaining one.
  • Basic understanding of contract law.
  • Working towards a construction-related degree.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Active contribution to team dynamics.
  • Effective system for managing priorities.
