Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Retrofit Lighting Installation

About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at Birmingham University, focusing on the installation of retrofit lighting systems across the campus. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a prestigious academic environment, ensuring the successful delivery of energy-efficient lighting solutions. The ideal candidate must hold an SSSTS, 18th Edition certification, and a valid First Aid certificate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and commission retrofit lighting systems throughout Birmingham University, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Adhere to project specifications and timelines, ensuring efficient and accurate installation.
- Work closely with project managers and other trades to coordinate activities and minimise disruption on campus.
- Conduct thorough testing and inspection of installed lighting systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain detailed records of work completed, including any modifications or adjustments made during installation.
- Ensure all health and safety protocols are strictly followed, with particular attention to working in a live educational environment.
- Provide technical support and advice to team members and stakeholders as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, particularly in retrofit lighting installations.
- Valid SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification is essential.
- 18th Edition wiring regulations certification is mandatory.
- First Aid certification is required.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and university staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and time lines.
