We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and professional Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in Birmingham. This opportunity arises due to our ongoing growth in the construction industry.

The Role: As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a leadership role within our surveying structure, reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor. You will work in partnership with Operations Management, acting as a lead figure within the surveying team. Your responsibilities include line management, being accountable for the development of the team, and ensuring accurate reporting. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders is crucial, ensuring the company obtains value for money and receives the correct market value from the supply chain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract.
  • Consistently promote the company values and procedures.
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted targets for the project team.
  • Manage the application schedule of rates, acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements.
  • Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing and resolution of client queries.
  • Monitor and analyse management information and job cost against job revenue.
  • Act as the point of contact for dispute resolution.
  • Identify potential disputes in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate Cashflow Forecasts and Revenue profiles are in place and updated regularly.
  • Support the MQS in the preparation and timely reporting of information, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC), and management accounts.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience within a commercial management role.
  • Excellent numeracy and organisation skills.
  • QS degree or equivalent training relevant experience.
  • Data interrogation skills.
  • Excellent IT knowledge, including a high level of Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot tables, and formula development).
  • Contractual awareness.
  • Negotiating and communication skills.
  • Line management experience and the development of people.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant contract conditions.
  • Experience in Management Accounts.
  • High level of organisation and achieving deadlines.
  • Maintaining technical knowledge and understanding.
  • Providing feedback for new and effective systems and controls for the business.
  • Positive reaction to change and assisting in its implementation in the business.

Desired Criteria:

  • Working towards MCIOB or RICS membership.
