Job Description

The construction planner will manage their own tasks within the context of a company or project objective.

Whilst the construction planner will take day to day decisions on their own, they will refer and agree significant decisions with project leads and the head of planning. The construction planner will be accountable for work, their team's performance, and its impact on their project. In operations they will manage the planning function on projects of various size and value.

The construction planner will provide planning management and support to both the pre-contract and contract operations for the business and coordinate with bid and construction teams to manage and control the planning management and programming aspects of bid proposals and multiple projects in progress.

The construction manager will provide programmes, analysis of programmes and communication within the team as required by the project lead, head of planning and senior planner during tender stage and as required by the construction manager during the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities

  • Produce fully logic linked design, procure and construction tender programmes.
  • Produce and assist in the production of tender logistics plans, method statements, prelim book generation, temporary works schedules, scaffold schedules and answering of tender questions as and when required.
  • Input into the development of 4D animations, phasing, logistic and build animations and CGI's as required.
  • Engage with supply chain team members to discuss and achieve optimum programme and method solutions.
  • Manage the planning and programme process by closely monitoring and controlling the development and implementation of the programme and checking completeness of supply chain packages.
  • Produce robust fully logic linked design, procurement, construction and commission programmes compliant with tender sum, design, and methodology.
  • Produce tender deliverables as required (agreed at tender start up meeting).
  • Work with allocated operations support in the production of method statement and scaffold schedule etc. and ensure that programme reflects agreed methods.
  • Produce (or lead if outsources) Logistics and phasing plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid submission documents.
  • Attend tender meetings including the tender settlement if required.
  • Ensure effective communication of bid strategy and solutions to the project team.
  • Identify, communicate, and add key programme risks to the risk register.
  • Develop contract programmes and in collaboration with site and/or project manager develop target programmes, fully logic linked with a baseline.
  • Assist project managers with onsite planning and reporting requirements.
  • Update both the target and contract programmes on a fortnightly or monthly basis with the project team.
  • Update the planning progress dashboard for each project on a monthly basis.

basis with the project team. Updated the planning progress dashboard for

each project on a monthly basis.

Formally issue programme updates to the customer as required by the contract

(JCT or NEC etc.).

Qualifications, training and technical knowledge
Degree or HNC (or equivalent) in Building Studies (or equivalent).

Both tender and live project experience.

Experience on both JCT and NEC forms of contract and project involvement.

Through understanding and experience in the use of project management

software.

Good experience in programme and planning management, project planning,

including programme controls, project review, and cost and risk analysis.

Experience in recognition and recording of change in requirements.

Experience of actively measuring and monitoring performance and the

presentation of the results in a logical manner to support continuous improvement.
