Fire Alarm Engineer

Salary: GBP 30,160- GBP 35,160 per year (Minimum 40hours a week @ £14.50p/hr with options to work overtime) .

Job Purpose:

To carry out and supervise variety of fire alarm (conventional and addressable) and electrical of installations, maintenance, reactive and PPM works within a variety sectors covering the UK, providing a professional service and working in accordance to current fire alarm regulation/standards.

Main duties:

  • To assemble, install, test, and maintain addressable and conventional Fire alarm systems, using hand tools, power tools and test equipment
  • To assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools, power tools and test equipment
  • To complete all work to the best of your ability and ensure all work is carried in accordance with the current IEE wiring and FIA regulation standards
  • To diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring and/or Fire alarms, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications
  • To supervise fire alarm Maintenance and installations
  • To sign off and commission fire alarm installations
  • To diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • To work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • To attend all sites requested to you by the Company within the agreed time frames
  • To be flexible with start and finish times, carrying out works with minimum disturbance to clients and their trading (if applicable)
  • To attend all call outs and provide technical support to clients when on-call
  • To work at height using the appropriate access equipment i.e mobile tower, steps, scaffolding etc.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects
  • To complete and return all works paperwork to the office in the agreed time scales
  • To carry out general maintenance works as required by the Client/Company
  • To provide support to team members and provide technical advice when needed
  • To be aware of the budgetary and commercial implications of the work
