Job Description

HR Manager - Full or Part Time

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join our growing recruitment business based in Central Reading. This is a standalone role, running an HR function serving our 11 offices and reporting to the Operations Director. You will need to be a confident and capable HR Generalist with excellent organisation, administration and communication skills. A sound understanding of employment law, experience of policy design and implementation and the ability to provide advice and guidance on HR practice to a diverse range of stakeholders is essential. This is a hands-on role with a strong operational element and requires a responsive individual who can work collaboratively and at pace with other business functions.

The role involves working alongside the Head of Talent Development to provide a full HR service to the business and includes but is not limited to:

  • All HR administration including contracts, employment and payroll changes
  • Employee relations - providing a full HR support service on performance, disciplinary and other employment issues
  • Overseeing and administering the Company appraisal system
  • Staff payroll
  • Absence management and reporting
  • HR Policy - ensuring HR policies are up to date, relevant and embedded
  • Benefit management, including holiday schemes, benefits portal, pensions, company cars
  • Training administration, records and bookings including apprenticeship management and working with apprenticeship providers
  • HR information system management
  • Managing the Company intranet
  • Other ad hoc requirements

We're looking for an experienced HR Generalist with a track record of providing an HR service in a fast-paced commercial environment. A sound knowledge and understanding of employment law and its application is essential. Knowledge or experience of the recruitment sector would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite. You will need to be:

  • Highly organised with excellent administration skills and attention to detail
  • A confident communicator, a credible voice on HR matters who can influence at a senior level whilst remaining approachable
  • Commercially aware
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Focused, persistent, trustworthy and professional
  • Strong aptitude for systems and processes
  • Team player with the ability and confidence to work independently
  • Hands-on and prepared to go above and beyond
