I am looking to appoint a Service Manager (Projects) to join a leading team in the public sector.
Based in Gateshead, you will be working as a Service Manager (Projects) and will lead partners and operational delivery teams to drive effective and efficient customer focused service delivery whilst ensuring value for money. You will provide strategic advice relating to contract terms, procurement, and compliance, in line with legislation, regulations, best practice and Council policy.
Your duties will include leading on the monitoring of the Housing Revenue Account (HRA), managing Tools and Plant hire, Fleet coordination, Stores and Material supply, and Waste Management. You will also have responsibility managing specialist subcontractor maintenance works and contract administration.
Candidates will need to have experience of being able to procure contractors, although this is not a procurement professional position, the successful appointment must have experience of how to navigate procurement process to secure contractors. A proven track record in moving projects along at pace is needed.
This particular role will oversee Major Projects - kitchen / bathroom schemes / void properties / stores and waste management.
The right candidate will also have:
- BSc (Hons) or equivalent qualification in a Construction related discipline
- Full driving licence or access to mobility support
- Previous project management experience
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate an ability to interview suitable contractors, and be confident managing those contractors once identified.
