Mechanical Design Engineer (Pre-Contracts Focus)

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialisation in pre-contracts to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing mechanical systems and components for various fit-out projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in the pre-contracts phase, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with the pre-contracts team to assess project requirements and develop design concepts.
2. Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and specifications for fit-out projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
3. Conduct technical reviews of design documents and provide guidance to project teams as needed.
4. Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and vendors to obtain necessary information and ensure design integrity.
5. Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders to address any design-related issues or concerns.
6. Support the procurement process by preparing bill of quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and technical specifications for mechanical systems and components.
7. Assist in the evaluation of bids and proposals from subcontractors and suppliers, making recommendations based on technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
8. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mechanical engineering, and incorporate relevant advancements into our design processes.
9. Adhere to project schedules and deadlines, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet project milestones.
10. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development among team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on pre-contracts within the fit-out industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and ASTM.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Professional engineering license (PE) preferred.
