Delivering a good morning
A major construction company needed a labourer ready to start work the next day — but the candidate had accidentally left his PPE behind. Daniel Owen’s Team Manager went above and beyond by purchasing the necessary equipment before dawn and delivering it in time for the start of the shift — ensuring the worker started on time and the client’s schedule stayed on track.
The Client
The Challenge
An experienced project manager was needed to plan and oversee the delivery of an upcoming programme of works to upgrade housing stock in line with social housing decarbonisation regulations (SHDF). Timescales were unusually tight due to the start date of decarbonisation works, so a clearly defined timescale was agreed upon between Daniel Owen and the client.
The Solution
• The site manager needed a labourer for the next day on a large construction site in Slough.
• A candidate was booked in the late afternoon as he had finished on his job at Gatwick. However, at 8pm he texted Gregg Lawton, Team Manager at Daniel Owen, to say that he had accidentally left his PPE at the site he’d been working on.
The Result
• The candidate was on site, on time, with the PPE he needed to start work. In fact, he stayed on site for the rest of the week, longer than originally planned.
• The client got the candidate when they needed him, without being bothered by delays or complications.
