Same day labour

A major housebuilder’s progress halted when a hoist broke down — materials couldn’t reach upper floors and work stopped. Daniel Owen proactively offered six same-day labourers to manually transport materials up stairways, keeping the trades moving and the project on schedule until repairs were complete.

The Client

A major housebuilder.

The Challenge

• One of our labourers phoned one morning to tell us that a goods hoist had broken down at his site – he thought he’d be out of a job.

• As materials could not be transported to the higher floors of the block of flats, and as it was unclear how long the hoist would be out of action, all work had stopped.

The Solution

• We called the site to offer six same-day labourers to help transport the materials up the stairs so that the trades could continue with their jobs.

• Impressed with our proactive approach, which would avoid the repercussions of delaying the project, the client agreed to our suggestion.

• The labourers stayed on site for the rest of the week, until the hoist was fixed

The Result

With our help, the client kept the project on schedule, at a minimal cost.
