M&E Manager (Gas & Heating) - Social Housing

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced M&E Manager specialising in Gas & Heating to join a well-established social housing organisation based in Leatherhead. This is a permanent opportunity for a strong operational leader with experience managing heating services, repairs, and maintenance contracts within a social housing or housing maintenance environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day gas and heating operations, managing a team of engineers and subcontractors, and ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual, compliance, and customer service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As the M&E Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Managing and leading a team of heating engineers, operatives, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Overseeing gas and heating repairs, servicing, and maintenance contracts across a social housing portfolio.
• Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), compliance standards, and team performance to drive operational improvements.
• Ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with relevant industry regulations and company procedures.
• Identifying training requirements and supporting the ongoing development and progression of engineers and operational staff.
• Maintaining strong communication with residents, clients, and stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction.
• Working closely with administration teams to coordinate workloads, job updates, scheduling, and reporting.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, efficiency, and compliance performance.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience managing gas and heating operations within a social housing, housing maintenance, facilities management, or similar environment.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of gas servicing, repairs, planned maintenance, and compliance requirements.
• Experience working against KPIs and delivering contractual targets.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• A customer-focused approach with the ability to manage relationships with residents and stakeholders.
