Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing

Location: West London
Salary: Up to £56,000 per annum

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to join a well-established contractor delivering essential day-to-day repairs and maintenance within the social housing sector?

We're currently recruiting on behalf of a reputable maintenance contractor with a strong presence across West London. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in managing the financial performance of responsive repairs and maintenance contracts while working within a supportive and growing commercial team.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of responsive repairs and planned maintenance contracts for local authority and housing association clients. You'll work closely with operational teams to maximise profitability, ensure contractual compliance, and build strong client relationships.

This role would suit someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has previous experience working within social housing maintenance or repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of day-to-day repairs and maintenance contracts.
  • Prepare and submit monthly valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
  • Monitor contract costs, budgets, and forecasts to ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Identify and manage variations, compensation events, and contractual entitlements.
  • Produce accurate cost reports and provide commercial advice to operational teams.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Procure and manage subcontractor packages where required.
  • Review subcontractor applications and process payments.
  • Support the preparation of tenders, pricing, and commercial submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

About You

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing, property maintenance, or responsive repairs.
  • Good understanding of day-to-day repairs and maintenance contracts.
  • Experience managing costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working with local authority or housing association contracts.
  • Knowledge of Schedule of Rates (SOR), including NHF.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Working towards or holding MRICS (desirable but not essential).
