Building Surveyor (Islington Social Housing)

• Rate: £29/hour
• Output: 3-5 surveys / week

The Role

We need a true Building Surveyor (not stock condition or Clerk of Works) to deliver detailed repair specs for Victorian/Edwardian conservation-area properties (no flats/new builds) on our Islington social housing contract. Focus is external redecoration, roofing, sash windows, pointing, and general external envelope repairs using NHF SOR v6.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out 3-5 comprehensive surveys/week, photographing and marking up defect areas.
• Write detailed repair specifications and schedules of works using NHF SOR v6.
• Prepare clear technical notes, findings, and repair recommendations.
• Liaise with residents, contractors, and operational teams.

Requirements

• Background: Social housing maintenance surveying on Victorian/Edwardian period stock.
• Tech Spec: Proven spec-writing experience with NHF SOR v6 and solid Building Regulations knowledge.
• Qualifications: HND in Building Surveying (or equivalent); RICS desirable.
• Extras: Able to provide/bring a sample specification of works.
