Warrington | Civils & Groundworks Sector
Salary: Region of £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Our client is a well-established Civils & Groundworks contractor delivering projects across the North West. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Buyer to join their team in Warrington.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction buyer or procurement professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and growing business. Experience purchasing construction materials is essential, while training can be provided on aggregate and plant procurement.

The Role

As Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting operational teams by sourcing and procuring materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring projects are supplied efficiently and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Procuring construction materials for ongoing projects
  • Obtaining quotations and negotiating best value with suppliers
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Managing purchase orders and delivery schedules
  • Monitoring material costs and market trends
  • Supporting site teams with procurement requirements
  • Assisting with aggregate and plant hire procurement (full training available)
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting

Requirements

  • Previous buying or procurement experience within construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • IT proficient with strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Comfortable working with procurement software and digital systems
  • Positive attitude towards technology and AI-assisted processes
  • Willingness to learn new systems and ways of working
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
