Warrington | Civils & Groundworks Sector
Salary: Region of £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Our client is a well-established Civils & Groundworks contractor delivering projects across the North West. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Buyer to join their team in Warrington.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction buyer or procurement professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and growing business. Experience purchasing construction materials is essential, while training can be provided on aggregate and plant procurement.
The Role
As Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting operational teams by sourcing and procuring materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring projects are supplied efficiently and cost-effectively.
Responsibilities
- Procuring construction materials for ongoing projects
- Obtaining quotations and negotiating best value with suppliers
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Managing purchase orders and delivery schedules
- Monitoring material costs and market trends
- Supporting site teams with procurement requirements
- Assisting with aggregate and plant hire procurement (full training available)
- Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting
Requirements
- Previous buying or procurement experience within construction
- Strong knowledge of construction materials
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- IT proficient with strong Microsoft Office skills
- Comfortable working with procurement software and digital systems
- Positive attitude towards technology and AI-assisted processes
- Willingness to learn new systems and ways of working
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
