Contract Type: Permanent
Start date: Immediately available
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality internal and external plastering, rendering, patch repairs and making-good works across a mixture of occupied and void residential properties. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Plasterer looking for a stable, long-term position with an established organisation that places a strong emphasis on quality workmanship, customer service, training and internal progression.
The Role:
As a Plasterer, you will undertake a varied programme of repairs and maintenance works across residential properties, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard and provides a durable, professional finish. You will work within both occupied homes and void properties, meaning you will need to combine strong technical ability with a professional and respectful approach when dealing with residents.
The role will involve everything from smaller patch repairs and making-good works through to larger plastering and rendering requirements. You will be expected to take ownership of your jobs, complete works efficiently and aim to achieve a first-time fix wherever possible. You will also work alongside other trades and the wider repairs team, often carrying out making-good works following plumbing, electrical or other maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out internal and external plastering and rendering repairs.
- Undertake plaster repairs to walls, ceilings and other internal surfaces.
- Complete patch plastering, bonding, skimming and associated preparation works.
- Carry out making-good works following other trade activities.
- Prepare surfaces appropriately before applying plaster and finishing materials.
- Repair damaged, cracked or defective plasterwork.
- Complete work to a consistently high standard, ensuring clean and professional finishes.
- Undertake associated minor works such as tiling, painting, sealing and making good where required.
- Diagnose the extent of repair works required and select appropriate materials and techniques.
- Complete jobs within agreed timescales and specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment within residents' homes.
- Record completed works, materials and relevant job information using a mobile/PDA system.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Plasterer with a background in repairs, maintenance, social housing, property services or a similar residential environment. You will take genuine pride in your workmanship and be capable of producing clean, smooth and durable finishes across a variety of plastering and repair requirements.
As you will regularly work within occupied homes, you will also need to demonstrate a professional and customer-focused approach. You should be comfortable communicating with residents, explaining works where appropriate and treating people's homes with care and respect.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 / City & Guilds in Plastering, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Proven experience working as a Plasterer within a repairs and maintenance environment.
- Strong practical experience in patch plastering, bonding and skimming.
- Experience of making good following other trades.
- Knowledge of internal and external plastering/rendering techniques.
- Experience working within occupied residential properties.
- A full UK manual driving licence with no more than six points.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- CSCS card preferred.
- DBS clearance, or willingness to undergo the required checks.
Package & Benefits:
The successful candidates will receive a competitive package, including:
- Company van and fuel card for work-related use.
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Support towards additional qualifications and skills development.
- Genuine opportunities for internal progression and promotion.
- The security of working for an established national property services organisation.
