Senior Site Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Site Quantity Surveyor

Central London | £300 - £450 Per Day | Long-Term Freelance Opportunity

A confidential client is seeking both a Senior Site Quantity Surveyor and an Assistant Site Quantity Surveyor to join a major construction project in Central London. This is a long-term opportunity on a prestigious development, with works expected to continue well into 2027/2028.

Senior Site Quantity Surveyor

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day commercial management of the project, overseeing trade packages, valuations, variations, instructions, cost control and final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Commercial management of multiple trade packages
• Managing variations, change control and valuations
• Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor accounts
• Undertaking measurements and take-offs
• Maintaining commercial records and reporting
• Supporting procurement activities
• Managing and mentoring an Assistant QS
• Working closely with project teams, consultants and subcontractors

Requirements:

• Proven Quantity Surveying experience within construction
• Strong knowledge of valuations, variations and final accounts
• Experience working on refurbishment, heritage, high-end residential or complex building projects advantageous
• Excellent measurement and commercial management skills
• Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced site environment

Assistant Site Quantity Surveyor

Working alongside the Senior QS, you will support the commercial management of the project through measurement, valuations, record keeping and day-to-day commercial administration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quantity take-offs and site measurement
• Supporting valuations and payment assessments
• Maintaining variation and instruction registers
• Reviewing dayworks and site records
• Assisting with procurement and tender comparisons
• Maintaining accurate commercial documentation
• Supporting final account preparation

Requirements:

• Strong numerical and measurement skills
• Familiarity with valuations and variations
• Good Excel and commercial administration skills
• Ambition to progress into a more senior commercial role
