The Opportunity

An established and growing renewable energy contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Renewable Energy Electrician to support projects across the North West.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining renewable technologies with general electrical installations across domestic properties, social housing and occasional commercial sites. Strong domestic experience is essential, while commercial and three-phase experience would be advantageous.

You will take responsibility for work from the initial survey through to installation, testing, commissioning and final handover. Depending on the project, you may work independently or alongside a wider delivery team, including roofers, heating engineers, plumbers, subcontractors and site management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing, connecting and commissioning solar PV systems, inverters and battery storage equipment
  • Installing and testing domestic and commercial EV charging points
  • Completing general domestic electrical work, including rewires, new circuits, consumer units, lighting, sockets, cooker supplies, extractor fans and remedial works
  • Carrying out EICRs, initial verification, fault-finding and associated remedial testing
  • Producing accurate EICs, Minor Works Certificates, EICRs and renewable commissioning documentation
  • Completing AC and DC testing, system set-up, monitoring configuration and customer handovers
  • Providing electrical supplies, isolation and wiring for air source heat pump installations
  • Carrying out technical surveys for solar PV, battery storage, EV charging and wider electrical works
  • Identifying cable routes, equipment locations, access requirements and potential technical constraints
  • Working with colleagues and other trades to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Providing clear progress updates and raising any technical or operational issues at an early stage
  • Delivering a professional and considerate service when working in occupied properties and customer-facing environments

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To be considered, you will need:

  • A recognised Level 3 electrical installation qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification and a strong working knowledge of BS 7671
  • A recognised solar PV installation qualification
  • Practical experience installing and commissioning solar PV systems
  • A recognised electrical energy storage or battery installation qualification
  • Experience installing and commissioning battery storage systems
  • A recognised EV charge point installation qualification
  • Practical EV charger installation experience
  • A relevant inspection and testing qualification, enabling you to complete EICRs and certification competently
  • Previous experience working in occupied domestic properties
  • Strong general electrical installation, alteration, testing and remedial experience
  • Confidence completing electrical certificates and digital records accurately
  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Commercial electrical installation or three-phase experience
  • Experience supporting air source heat pump installations
  • Knowledge of solar PV design, string design and equipment selection
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, tradespeople or small site teams
  • Experience surveying or pricing electrical and renewable energy projects

What They Are Looking For

The successful candidate will be reliable, motivated and take genuine pride in the quality of their work. You should be equally comfortable working independently and contributing as part of a wider project team.

Strong communication, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to represent the business professionally are essential. You will be expected to work safely, maintain high standards and treat customers' homes and workplaces with care and respect.

Support, Training and Progression

You will receive comprehensive back-office support, with appointments scheduled and key job information provided in advance, allowing you to focus on delivering safe and high-quality work on site.

The business also offers:

  • Administrative and scheduling support
  • Regular manufacturer training across solar, battery and EV technologies
  • Ongoing technical updates as products, regulations and manufacturer requirements evolve
  • Support to develop additional qualifications and technical capabilities
  • Genuine progression opportunities into supervision and project delivery
