Assistant Site Manager
Daniel Owen are recruiting an Assistant Site Manager to join a specialist subcontractor delivering high-performance interior fit-out solutions to the UK construction industry. Their services include drylining, partitioning, suspended ceilings, SFS, acoustic and fire-stopping systems, and general interior finishing. We work in partnership with Tier 1 main contractors and developers across a range of sectors, including commercial offices, high-density residential schemes, healthcare environments, educational institutions, and public-sector infrastructure.
This is a No.3 position, primarily overseeing Health & Safety.
Position: Assistant Site Manager
Location: Stoke
Salary: £200.00 - £220.00 per day
Contract Type: Temporary 4 - 6 weeks
Start date: 5th or 6th August
The successful Assistant Site Manager will be expected to supervise the health & safety of drylining, ceilings, and associated systems from commencement through to completion. You will manage operatives and subcontractors on site, ensure adherence to the construction programme, and coordinate all aspects of installation with other trades and site activities. You will conduct daily site inspections, maintain accurate records, issue toolbox talks, and ensure full compliance with health and safety protocols. Regular reporting to the project manager will be required, alongside active participation in site coordination meetings with the principal contractor. You will take ownership of health and safety documentation, and support smooth handover of completed works.
Requirements:
- Supervisory experience in the drylining or interior fit-out sector. You should hold a valid SSSTS or SMSTS certificate and a current CSCS Supervisor or Manager card. A strong technical understanding of drywall systems, SFS, suspended ceilings, fire protection, and general internal finishes is essential, as is the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
- You must be capable of managing health & safety effectively, resolving day-to-day issues on site, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Strong communication and organisational skills are required, with the ability to work independently and proactively.
- Additional qualifications such as First Aid at Work, NVQ Level 3 or above in Construction Supervision or Interior Systems, and experience using snagging or QA software will be considered advantageous.
