We're seeking a skilled Electrician to join a long-term social housing maintenance programme, delivered on behalf of the local council. In this role, you'll carry out a range of electrical repairs and installations across council-owned properties, helping ensure safe, reliable, and well-maintained homes for residents.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance, and installations across occupied and void social housing properties.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults in domestic settings, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Installing and maintaining lighting systems, sockets, switches, consumer units, and other domestic electrical components.
- Conducting periodic inspection and testing of electrical systems in line with current regulations (e.g., EICRs).
- Ensuring all work complies with the latest IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Completing all required documentation, including job sheets, certificates, and compliance records.
- Liaising professionally with tenants, site managers, and other trades to ensure smooth delivery of services.
- Responding to emergency call-outs and urgent repairs as required.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order.
- Following company procedures and upholding high standards of workmanship and customer service.
Requirements:
Full UK Driving Licence
- JIB Gold Card or working towards it, with supporting evidence required.
- BS 7671: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations
- City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing
- Basic Criminal Record Check (DBS)
