Maintenance Surveyor - Sussex

Contract Length: Temporary

Location: Sussex

Salary: £40/hour (Umbrella)

Role Overview:


We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Surveyor to join a social housing provider in the Sussex Region. This is a great opportunity to take on a variety of responsibilities within a dedicated team, working to maintain high standards of housing for residents. The focus of the role will be diagnosing and managing damp and mould issues, along with overseeing day-to-day repairs in social housing properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct damp and mould inspections and surveys in social housing properties, identifying causes such as leaks, condensation, and building defects.

  • Generate detailed reports with recommendations for remediation works, including moisture readings and photographic evidence.

  • Manage the completion of day-to-day repairs from diagnosis to resolution, ensuring all works meet compliance standards.

  • Collaborate with contractors, ensuring that work is delivered on time, within budget, and meets quality and safety standards.

  • Act as the main point of contact for tenants, managing their concerns and ensuring they receive the best possible service.

  • Ensure that all repairs and inspections comply with current regulations and health & safety standards.

  • Provide technical expertise and support to other teams, particularly on issues related to damp & mould and housing disrepair.

  • Keep accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and progress, and report findings to management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Solid experience in maintenance surveying within the social housing sector.

  • Strong background in diagnosing and resolving damp and mould issues and related defects.

  • Understanding of HHSRS, disrepair claims, and housing legislation.

  • Ability to manage day-to-day repairs and work with contractors to ensure work is carried out to a high standard.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Must be able to work under an umbrella arrangement.
