RICS Building Surveyor - Social Housing (Disrepair, Damp & Mould)

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum
We are working with a well-established social housing provider in East London to recruit a Chartered Building Surveyor to take a lead role in disrepair and damp & mould casework. This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced surveyor to join a forward-thinking team committed to improving housing standards across the borough.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing complex repair cases, ensuring legal compliance, and delivering high-quality outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on building inspections relating to disrepair, damp, mould, and condensation issues within the housing stock.
Provide expert diagnosis and recommend remedial works, ensuring that all advice is technically sound and in line with legislation and internal policies.
Prepare detailed reports to support legal disrepair cases in line with Section 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act.
Act as a technical advisor to internal teams, legal departments, and external solicitors, and attend court where required.
Oversee and review contractor performance, ensuring repairs and remedial works are completed to standard and within required timeframes.
Provide clear communication to residents, managing expectations and maintaining high levels of customer service.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant building regulations, legislation, and best practice, particularly relating to social housing and fitness for human habitation.
Requirements:
MRICS or FRICS qualified (essential).
Strong background in building surveying within the social housing sector.
Proven experience managing disrepair and damp & mould cases, with sound understanding of relevant legislation.
Excellent diagnostic, report writing, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and communicate technical information clearly.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
