You will oversee the technical operations of facilities (hard services) to guarantee safety, compliance, and high service quality across a property portfolio. You'll manage maintenance programs, handle stakeholder relationships, drive continuous improvement, and ensure financial performance meets expectations - all within the unique context of London's regulatory and commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety & Compliance
- Ensure building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety) are compliant with UK statutory standards and ISO frameworks such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; review RAMS and manage incident reporting.
- Operational & Technical Management
- Oversee planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance, whether delivered in-house or via supply chains.
- Act as the first escalation point for technical and customer service issues.
- Use CAFM or CMMS (e.g., Maximo) systems to track asset data, schedule maintenance, and ensure accurate work order management.
- Commercial & Financial Oversight
- Manage budgets and contribute to P&L performance; support quoting and financial approval processes.
- Master contract scope, monitor SLAs/KPIs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and value-add services.
- Team Leadership & Supplier Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop site-based or contract teams to drive competent service delivery and succession planning.
- Evaluate and manage supplier performance, negotiating for safety, continuity, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
- Stakeholder & Customer Management
- Serve as the primary liaison with clients, internal account managers, and stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and enhancing client satisfaction.
- Deliver governance-aligned performance reports and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Typical Background
- 3-5+ years in technical FM roles, particularly focusing on building systems and compliance.
- Track record of managing budgets, teams, and supplier relationships.
- Hands-on maintenance or commissioning experience is a plus.
