The client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Supervisor to oversee a team of static and mobile engineers delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and compliance activities across a portfolio of Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Services (HMCTS) sites.
This is a key supervisory role responsible for maintaining high operational standards, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual requirements, and acting as the key escalation point for technical and customer service issues. About the Role
As the Technical Supervisor, you will:
- Lead and supervise a team of multi-skilled engineers across HMCTS sites
- Ensure the timely delivery of all PPM and reactive maintenance tasks, meeting all SLAs and KPIs
- Maintain compliance with H&S legislation, statutory testing and internal procedures
- Provide engineering support during emergencies to ensure business continuity
- Act as a Responsible Person or Authorised Person where applicable
- Support the Area Facilities Manager in budget, people and subcontractor management
- Maintain and audit data using a Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide technical escalation during out-of-hours incidents
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate the engineering team's daily and weekly tasks
- Liaise with internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless service delivery
- Carry out subcontractor audits and performance monitoring
- Ensure asset registers, maintenance records, and service reports are up-to-date
- Deliver toolbox talks and support safety briefings
- Drive energy efficiency, sustainability and compliance across the estate
- Maintain availability of critical spares, tools and testing equipment
- Monitor, coach and develop engineering team members to achieve optimal performance
- Foster strong working relationships with stakeholders, clients and senior management
What You'll Bring
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar technical/facilities management role
- Qualified in a building services discipline (e.g., electrical, mechanical, HVAC)
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, building services and FM best practice
- Experience using CAFM systems (e.g., Concept, Planon, Maximo)
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations, RAMS, and compliance obligations
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Eligibility for BPSS and CTC clearance (CTC required for specific sites)
Desirable:
- NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent safety qualification
- Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets
- Knowledge of public sector estates, ideally HMCTS or central government
- Experience working in secure environments or under compliance-heavy contracts
Security Clearance
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance and may require Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) due to the sensitive nature of some sites (e.g., Royal Courts of Justice). Applicants must be UK residents and have the right to work in the UK.
Working Hours & Flexibility
- Monday to Friday core hours
- Participation in on-call rota for emergency call-outs
- Flexibility required for occasional out-of-hours or weekend support
